Kristin Sheikh is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, and a Masters degree in Social Work from Indiana University.
Early in her career, she became interested in how the body holds trauma. While traditional therapeutic modalities were helpful, she began to notice clients healing faster when she incorporated newer body oriented methods, like Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing (SE) ® , & Transforming Touch ®.
Since 2016 Kristin has been certified in EMDR. She completed a three year program to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) in 2019, and became a VSA Licensed Sound Therapist in 2022.
Kristin is a member of the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) and EMDRIA (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association). She also holds a Certificate in Traumatic Stress Studies from the Justice Resource Institute in Massachusetts. Bessel van der Kolk, author of "The Body Keeps The Score", spearheaded this training.
When she's not at work, she loves traveling and collecting rocks.
